We have reached the fall season, meaning we have so many incredible movies about to hit the theaters. So today, we share the 2022 Fall movie theatrical preview.
Not only are we approaching the fall season, but we are also hitting movie award season. I will be highlighting and reviewing a majority of these movies right here on Hidden Remote. The slate is packed with not just Award films, but we have a loaded slate of blockbuster films that will have us at the theaters a lot this fall.
A quick note, with the ever-changing moves and shifts of films, we will keep this list up to date if we see or hear anything about new releases being moved to different dates.
Movies coming to theaters: September 2022
Honk For Jesus, Save Your Soul – Sept. 2
Spider-Man: No Way Home – The More Fun Stuff Version – Sept. 2
barbarian – Sept. 9
Clerks III – Sept. 13
The Woman King – Sept. 16
Silent Twins – Sept. 16
Don’t Worry, Darling – Sept. 23
Brittle – Sept. 30
smile – Sept. 30
September really isn’t playing around, folks. Some incredible movies are kicking off the fall season. The month starts strong with one of my favorite films of the 2022 Sundance Film Festival in Honk For Jesus, Save Your Soul.
I recently rewatched this movie and was even more impressed with a few alterations they made to the film. Sterling K. Brown and Regina Hall should be in awards consideration for their performances in this. Fans of the home experience, you’ll be able to catch this one on Peacock at the same time it hits theaters.
The other big-time movie releasing is Olivia Wilde’s wild ride, Don’t Worry, Darling. The film stars Florence Pugh, Harry Styles, and Chris Pine. The movie will debut at Venice Film Festival, so we’ll hear a lot about this movie before it officially hits theaters. Honestly, I’m more intrigued by all the apparent drama behind this film with Pugh and Wilde, but who knows what is or isn’t true.
Movies coming to theaters: October 2022
Tar – Oct. 7
Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile – Oct. 7
Halloween Ends – Oct. 14
White Bird: A Wonder Story – Oct. 14
Black Adam – Oct. 21
Ticket to Paradise – Oct. 21
Prey for the Devil – Oct. 28
Till – Oct. 28
Will Evil finally die tonight? I sure hope so. We had the disaster that was Halloween Kills and I’m hoping that Halloween Ends is more like the first film of this trilogy than the second film because if not, we are in trouble.
We have the massive passion project from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the form of a superhero movie with Black Adam. Nobody needs a bigger win right now than WB. With the hype surrounding the trailer, this might be the step in the right direction they need for their comic book tentpoles.
Movies coming to theaters: November 2022
Amsterdam – Nov. 4
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – Nov. 11
Armageddon Time – Nov. 11
She Said – Nov. 18
Bones and All – Nov. 23
devotion – Nov. 23
Strange World – Nov. 23
The Fabelmans – Nov. 23
We have a HUGE shift in the theatrical scene as we inch closer to award season in November. But first, we must talk about Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The movie has plenty of odds stacked against it because of the unfortunate passing of Chadwick Boseman.
As a result, there was a lot of talk about whether the franchise should proceed. However, all that chatter died when the trailer for Wakanda Forever was released and everyone is calling it one of the best trailers of any CBM ever. I believe in Ryan Coogler and you should, too.
Two of the biggest Oscar contenders of the month will be Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmanswhich is based on his childhood and She Said, which is about the New York Times article that sparked the Me Too movement. Both films have star-studded cast that should hear their names come Oscar nominations morning.
Movies coming to theaters: December 2022
Violet Night – Dec. 2
A Man Called Otto – Dec. 14
Avatar: The Way of Water – Dec. 16
Spoiler Alert: The Hero Dies – Dec. 16
I Wanna Dance with Somebody – Dec. 21
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish – Dec. 21
Shazam! Fury of the Gods – Dec. 21
Women Talking – Dec. 25
Babylon (Limited release) – Dec. 25
We finally have the sequel to the highest-grossing film of all-time hitting theaters in Avatar: The Way of Water. I’ll be honest, I watched twenty minutes of the first one and was so bored I turned it off. I’m not excited about this movie, but with James Cameron returning and the original being an Oscar player, it will surely be on my radar.
While it’s only being released in limited theaters (releasing wide in January), Babylon is the next movie from La La Land director Damien Chazelle. I bring it up because there has been early chatter that this film is another masterpiece from Chazelle. If this remains true, Babylon will be one of the top movies heading into the Oscars race.
Last, while we have heard some chatter about the potential move of Shazam! Fury of the Gods, the film remains on the release schedule. I loved the first movie as I thought it was a breath of fresh air in the comic book space. I’m excited about this one and I hope they don’t delay it.
