The official trailer and key art have been released for Lost Ollie, a new series premiering on Netflix this month. Feeling a bit reminiscent of Toy Story but in a live action world, Lost Ollie is the story of a toy going on the ultimate adventure in his quest to reunite with the boy who lost him. You can get your sneak peek at the series by watching the below trailer.
The four-part limited series is inspired by author and illustrator William Joyce’s original book Ollie’s Odyssey. Created by Shannon Tindle (Kubo and the Two Strings, Coraline), the series stars Jonathan Groff, Mary J. Blige, Tim Blake Nelson, Gina Rodriguez, Jake Johnson, and Kesler Talbot. You can read the official synopsis below.
Lost Ollie is an epic adventure about a lost toy who braves the many dangers of childhood as he searches the countryside to reunite with the boy who lost him; and the story of the boy who lost more than a best friend. It’s a heartwarming tale for the child in us all, remembering those special souls that we’ve lost but who forever changed our lives.
Tindle served as a writer on the series with Oscar winner Peter Ramsey (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) directing. The two also executive produced with 21 Entertainment’s Shawn Levy and Josh Barry, as well as Brandon Oldenburg and Lampton Enochs. Emily Morris was a co-executive producer.
Lost Ollie Features a Stellar Cast
Jonathan Groff (Frozen, Hamilton) provides the voice of Ollie, a handmade toy rabbit with a heart of gold. He’s the best friend of a young boy, Billy, who’s played by Kelser Talbot (50 States of Fright). Mary J. Blige (Mudbound, Power Book II: Ghost) voices Rosy, a raggedy teddy bear stitched together with other toys who becomes an ally to Ollie on his adventure. The third friend in the trio of toys is Zozo, a clown doll voiced by Tim Blake Nelson (watchmen, O Brother, Where Art Thou?). Zozo is a “true gentleman with a sense of humor” who quickly agrees to accompany Ollie.
Also appearing in the film as human characters are Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin, kajillionaire) and Jake Johnson (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Jurassic World). Rodriguez plays Billy’s mother, Sharon, who inspires creativity and imagination in her son. Johnson co-stars as James, Billy’s dad, who can sometimes be short with Billy due to the stress he feels from getting overworked.
Lost Ollie will make its streaming debut on Aug. 24, 2022, on Netflix. Below, you can take a peek at the official key art.
