Indiana Jones 5

Within the past decade, Harrison Ford has proven multiple times that he is far from”too old” for action movies. For example, Ford returned to portray Han Solo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015, during which Ford’s famous smuggler took on space pirates, fought stormtroopers, and infiltrated the First Order’s Starkiller Base. In 2017, Ford reprized another one of his classic characters, playing Rick Deckard in Blade Runner 2049. Although Ryan Gosling’s Officer K was the main character of this Blade Runner sequel, Deckard was still a major narrative figure and even got into a fistfight with K. Most recently, Ford acted in The Call of the Wild in 2020, portraying rugged frontiersman John Thornton. Based on these roles, it is clear Ford’s age has never stopped him from appearing in action movies, so it should not slow him down in Indiana Jones 5.

In addition, Ford returning as Indy is much-needed because it will allow him to properly finish the Indiana Jones franchise. In 2008, Ford reprized his role for the first time since the 1980s in Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. this Indiana Jones sequel ended on a happy note, featuring Indy marrying his first love interest, Marion Ravenwood, and meeting his son, Henry “Mutt” Williams. However, many viewers and critics disliked Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Although the film performed well at the box office, it received mixed to negative reviews for its confusing interdimensional aliens and repeated jokes about Indiana’s age. Based on this response, the creators of Indiana Jones 5 should have learned from Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls mistakes and been able to create a better final movie to close the Indiana Jones movie series. Indiana Jones 5 needs Harrison Ford to reprise his iconic role, and Ford has proven he is more than capable of doing so.
