BCPL Offers Resources for Success; Upcoming Supply Giveaways – BladenOnline.com

By Cara Beth Lewis

As summer break comes to an end, you can have peace of mind knowing that there are many helpful resources right here in Bladen County that can help students achieve a successful school year. Whether you are a student or the parent of a student, this information is good to know.

Bladen County Public Library in Elizabethtown and its branches in Clarkton and Bladenboro are great resources all by themselves, without even considering the “extras” offered by the public library. By visiting one of our public libraries in Bladen County, you have access to a variety of books and information and a safe space to study, read, or just relax. Additionally, internet access, printing services, and more can be very helpful to students.

Library Director Sheila Nance shared the following information:

“The library still offers free student access to all Bladen County Schools’ students. All they need is their student ID number to check out books and access ebooks and audiobooks.”

The link magazinescountypubliclibrary.com offers a variety of valuable resources for students and parents. Simply scroll for access to:

  • BrainFuse HelpNow for free access to live online tutoring, test preparation, GED preparation, and help with writing, language learning, and resumes.
  • The NC Kids Digital Library, which offers a collection of ebooks, audiobooks, and streaming videos. These can be accessed on cellphones and tablets through the FREE Libby app. A library card number (or student ID # for BC Schools) is required.
  • NC Live offers access to countless articles, ebooks, videos, language learning, career development, and resume writing. NC Live helps with research and proper citations. The site also offers test preparation for GED, GRE, SAT, ASVAB, US Citizenship, and more.
  • Transparent Language Online is another free resource for learning a foreign language.
  • Bladen County Public Library will resume weekly StoryTimes on Thursday, September 8th, at the Main Branch. StoryTime fosters a love of reading in our youngest patrons, ages 0-5.
  • The library has an ongoing Teen Program that consists of a Book Club, Anime Club, and Gaming Club. Teens are welcomed and encouraged to join at any time!
  • For those interested in art, be on the lookout for monthly paint classes with our guest artist, Sarah Bill. Many of our classes are designed specifically for children.
  • Schools can make arrangements for our Book Mobile to visit their campus by calling (910) 862-6900.
  • Daycares and day schools can make arrangements for our Bizzy Bus team to visit for on-site StoryTimes or for book drop-offs.”

The library has so much to offer; you just need to take advantage of it! No matter your age, the library has something catered to you.
