13 Best Romance Movies on Disney+

best romance movies on disney

This probs isn’t news to you, but if you’re looking for sexy, steamy movies that have you sweatin’ up a storm, then Disney+ isn’t the place to look. The streaming service is all about family-friendly content (I mean, they deemed Love, Victor inappropriate due to its LGBTQ+ themes and effectively shut down the Lizzie McGuire reboot, etc.). However! That doesn’t mean you can’t find any romance on the streamer. And since pretty much all the best romance movies on Disney+ have a PG rating (save for The Fault in Our Stars, 10 Things I Hate About Youand Then in Real Lifewhich squeaked by with a PG-13), that means you can watch ’em with your parents without fear of any unexpected sex scenes (*shudders*).

Maybe you’re looking for some cozy, feel-good rom-coms to stream on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Maybe you’re more in the mood for a cry-your-damn-eyes-out drama about star-crossed lovers. Whatever the case, Disney+ has plenty of swoon-worthy movies that deliver. And btw, if you’re looking to make the most of your subscription, then we have plenty of other recs for the Disney+ shows you should be watching, as well as all the best Disney flicks from the ’90s you can watch. Without further ado, here are the 13 best romances on Disney+ right now that you can stream for all the magic, feel-good vibes, and happy endings (sometimes).

Though inspired by the story of real-life showman PT Barnum, the fiery romance between Barnum’s partner (Zac Efron) and a trapeze artist (Zendaya) is what really steals the show in this fab musical.

clouds (2021)

In this Disney+ original (which is based on a true story, btw), a teen with terminal cancer writes and records a hit song that becomes his legacy, all while falling in love with the first time. Yep, cue all the feels.

While You Were Sleeping (1995)

In this highly-underrated romance, a train fare collector named Lucy (Sandra Bullock), who’s secretly in lust with cute commuter Peter (Peter Gallagher), gets to (sorta) shoot her shot when he falls onto the train tracks, giving her a chance to save him. Another Disney+ original, stargirl is based on the beloved book of the same name by Jerry Spinelli, following a quiet teen who finds his life forever changed by a free-spirited girl who moves to his small New Mexico town.

Enchanted (2007)

What happens when a fairytale princess (Amy Adams) is banished to New York City by her fiancé’s wicked stepmother right before her wedding? She finds magic whenever she can, obv…and she also finds a hot but v cynical divorce lawyer (Patrick Dempsey) along the way.

Tuck Everlasting (2002)

Based on the classic novel by Natalie Babbitt, this sappy romance revolves around upper-class teen Winnie (Alexis Bledel). 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

This rom-com centers on Kat (Julia Stiles), a moody teen with zero interest in boys, unlike her younger sister Bianca, who’s desperate to date. The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004)

While the first movie in this series features some ~lite romance~ with the foot pop and such, it isn’t until The Princess Diaries 2 that Mia (Anne Hathaway) gets a real shot at love. splash (1984)

A young Tom Hanks stars in this magical rom-com as a workaholic who, 20 years after a mermaid rescues him, happens to find her again, forcing him to make an impossible choice: keep living his life on land, or join his dream woman in the sea.
